 The Wollemi Pine
The Wollemi Pine is one of the world's oldest and rarest plants dating back to the time of the dinosaurs.
 
The discovery, on or about 10 September 1994, by David Noble, a field officer of the Wollemi National Park in Wentworth Falls, in the Blue Mountains, only occurred because of his adventurous bushwalking and rock climbing abilities. Luckily, he had good botanical knowledge and quickly recognised the trees as unusual and worthy of further investigation. Noble returned with specimens that he expected someone would be able to identify. However, it was soon found to be new to science.

With less than 100 adult trees known to exist in the wild, the Wollemi Pine is now the focus of extensive research to safeguard its survival. Assist in the conservation effort by growing your own Wollemi Pine and becoming part of one of the most dramatic comebacks in natural history.

 The Village Square Area

Our 'Village Square' area has proved a great success with many local businesses, clubs and groups using the facility to bring their particular cause to the attention of the general public. We are currently receiving several thousand visitors a day, with peak trading taking place during weekends, so it's been well worth while.

The most successful event is the regular farmers’ market event. Somerset Farmers’ Markets, who organise markets in the county, come to the village square on every third Thursday in the month.

“We want our visitors to be able to spend the day at Sanders GardenWorld® and want to lay on as many different events and activities as we can. Our Village Square area will be available for outside organisations to use free of charge for any  demonstrations, displays, performances, fundraising events and promotional activities as long as they do not clash with our company policies or anything we’re already doing or selling in-store.”

The Somerset Triumphs car club put on a great show at GardenWorld on Sunday 20th August. After showing their cars to many nostalgic customers who could remember " I had a car just like that one when I was a younger" they had a 36 mile round trip run though the Somerset countryside.

After all that fresh air the club went for a bite to eat in the Lemon Grove Restaurant and a fun day was had by all.
